Our Background
The history of Low Plains
To tell our story, we have to go all the way back to 2005—just after Jamie’s service in the Marine Corps.
It all began with a floppy-eared, one-year-old Lab named Mikey and a dive into the world of Dock Diving. At that very first event, Jamie laid eyes on a German Shorthaired Pointer named Tundra—and it was love at first sight. One year later, he welcomed his first GSP Duchess . Two years after that, a young, Gsp named Rossi Ann came into his life. Rossi had a rough early life before Jamie took her in, After a lot of work and patience she became an amazing dog. Rossi soon became affectionately known as Roxi around the house.
Roxi would go on to become the foundation of the Low Plains Bird Dogs GSP breeding program. She came from strong lines and made her mark in the UKC conformation ring, earning several awards along the way.
In 2009 struggling economy in Michigan, Jamie made the decision to pack up and head west. By the grace of god and a little luck he landed in Valley City North Dakota. in 2010 he met Beckie and her three amazing kids. The two would eventually get married. in 2013 Low Plains Willow was born from a Breeding of Roxi and a solid liver Gsp named Jager with lines that trace back to Germany. Low plains Birddogs was born. From there willow would go on to produce some amazing dogs both in the field at home and on the dock.
At the time, we also bred yellow Labs—our girl Kimber and our male Charlie. But after losing Kimber in 2021, we made the heartfelt decision to retire our Lab breeding program and focus exclusively on German Shorthaired Pointers. That’s when we officially became Low Plains GSPs.
Now, in 2025, we’re expanding beyond breeding with the launch of Low Plains Outfitters LLC. We’re bringing our love for dogs into new territory—offering apparel, handmade dog collars, leashes, training bumpers, and more.
By introducing new bloodlines to complement our already exceptional European-influenced stock, we’ve produced dogs that are highly intelligent, incredibly trainable, and still possess the kind of temperament that makes them perfect for the home. These dogs are built for the foot hunter, capable of competing with the best in the dog sports world—and just as happy curling up on the couch at the end of the day.
